Multi-3PL Fulfillment View

The executive and operator views required when one preferred 3PL coexists with regional providers and fixed retailer paths.

By Single Pane of Glass Editorial Desk · July 15, 2026 · 1 min read

Scope

The view should show inventory, order acceptance, backlog, routing outcome, service intent, actual carrier, tracking, exceptions, and performance across fulfillment endpoints.

Key design rule

Do not force fixed retailer flows into dynamic routing. Display them in the same operating view while preserving the mandatory 3PL and carrier path.

Executive view

Show volume, on-time performance, cost, rejection rate, aging backlog, inventory coverage, and high-impact exceptions by 3PL and region.

Operator view

Show order, source channel, routing rule, selected location, inventory basis, service intent, actual carrier, current stage, exception, owner, and action.

Required controls

  • Canonical facility IDs
  • Capability matrix
  • Service-level normalization
  • Carrier-code mapping
  • Split and backorder policy
  • Cancellation window
  • Retry and duplicate prevention
  • Receiving and returns visibility
